Default Re: The TEACHING Thread

a question for our islamicans who are currently teaching, how do you get your kids to take you seriously without being extremely strict on them . this is a problem i have with my sunday school students. and i might go on to teach high school in the future inshaAllah, so this is kind of what i'm worried about at the moment. i know it's difficult for someone to be a friend and also a teacher to a group of students.. any advice?

When Sulayman ibn AbdulMalik visited Makkah, he asked if there was anyone present who has met the companions of RasulAllah (saw).
“Abu Hazim,” they replied.
“Why is it that we dislike death? Why is it we don't want to die?” Sulayman asked.
Abu Hazim replied, “Because you have built and established this world and you have destroyed your Aakhirah, so you hate to go from what you have established to what you have destroyed.”
