One of our family friend's daughter got divorced a few years back. She was really lucky that she had a pre-nup.The jerk tried to dump all his student loans on her but because they had a pre-nup she was protected from him taking all her assets. Islamically as far as I know the man has no right over the woman's money and everything she makes and contributes to the family is considered sadaqa. In the legal system it's whoever makes more most of the time ends up having to pay alimony in divorce.
