Itz: I think my family spends a similar amount.. I have a bunch of brothers and they eat constantly
I don't know. There are more men than women in my family but we ALL eat. Like, my parents are constantly praised by others about how well we all eat, and how much we all eat, yet none of us have a weight issue. So we all certainly eat but my mother never spent nearly that much on food a week. I think at most it was 200, and she was complaining up a storm with that.
So what are you guys buying??

my mom is extremely particular about food so we spend a lot on fresh produce and a LOT on dairy... we go through maybe a gallon and a half of milk a day. we also go through a couple dozen eggs a week because we bake often and then we spend maybe 50 bucks a week on spring water.
and my mom really spoils my brothers; some of them are pretty finicky about food and she'll cater to their individual demands

(she didn't do that when I was a kid)
Edit: I was wayy off.. I asked my mom and she said $300
