The Story of Imam Qatanani and Injustice in America

To: U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Mr. Michael Chertoff, Secretary
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Washington, D.C. 20528

Re: Dr. Mohammad Qatanani and his family, Imam of the Islamic Center
of Passaic County, NJ

We, the undersigned, write in support of the application of Imam Dr.
Mohammad Qatanani and his family for legal permanent residence in the
United States. As the leader of the largest Muslim congregation in
New Jersey, Imam Qatanani has been a central figure in building
bridges to other faith-based communities. His interfaith work and
dialogue has become a model for other communities throughout our
nation.

Imam Qatanani's supporters include U.S. Congressmen, State Senators
and Assembly leaders, law enforcement officials at every level from
the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to the County Sheriff and
prosecutors, state and municipal judges, and several municipal police
and prosecutors' offices. The support for Imam Qatanani amongst his
fellow clergy is extraordinarily broad, from Conservative and Reform
Rabbis to nearly every denomination of the Christian faith. Imam
Qatanani has dedicated his life to advocating for cooperation,
tolerance, compassion and brotherhood. He encourages his congregation
and all Muslims to participate in all aspects of civic life in the
United States. His unique vision transcends the barriers that keep us
from building a more compassionate and just society. His words and
actions embody our nation's highest ideals.

We therefore ask that you approve Imam Qatanani's application for
permanent residencey so that he can continue to be an important asset
to our community and our country.

Sincerely,
The Undersigned
