As Bravo mentioned, the main issue here is double-standards. McCain has said that so-and-so is his spiritual guide. And McCain himself has not stepped forward to either associate or dissociate himself from Parsley's remarks. The silence - coupled with the double standards - is very troubling, to say the least.

What the OP is advocating is that someone has to step forward and ask the question, McCain, do you agree or disagree with the views of Parsley, yes or no?

Politicians are public figures and as such they are, and must be, subject to public scrutiny.

Not without reason is it said that sunlight is the best disinfectant.
