That's not really a good analogy. It's not logical for someone to stop outside responsibilities because of a spousal disagreement. I mean, if I'm annoyed at Mr. PhDGirl, am I going to stop working on my dissertation? No, because that's stupid. I think the question is more about how vindictive people are in their relationships. It's hard to really know how you'll handle things until you're actually living with the person.
