Never lived there, only go there for 3 month long vacations every other year, Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, since I was a baby.

And I disagree with you. Never once did I have a conversation with someone who wanted to force their religious convictions on someone else. And I've conversed with them all, the upper class, middle class, lower middle class, and the poor. So from Paris Hilton wanna bes- who hasn't bothered praying namaaz in 5 years- to the women who come wash the floors- people are NOT fundo extremists. I've had molvi saabs who asked how practicing I was, and I've had "dars" aunties give me a lecture, but I've never run into some taliban style /red mosque people who tell me I'm kufar for x & y reason. I've even had these conversations with the native people of the north west frontier area- again, they just wanted to know about the U.S., about makeup, about how much money you can make, etc.

Quite honestly- the "nicer" parts of Islamabad, Lahore, wherever, often have people who are less concerned with Islam, as a whole.

What you're talking about (or what I believe you're talking about) is people who are nosy, gossipers, who are hating. But that has nothing to do with being Pakistani- thats everybody, everywhere. Thats hypocrisy.
