I only lived there for a year, but i can sat from my limited experience that is NOT true, at all. They are interested in EVERYONE elses lives, not their own. It doesnt matter what they do, but other people have to appear to be pious muslims. btw i lived in a nice area of islamabad, and traveled to lahore, rawlpindi, peshawar, etc.
