The answer given by the "maulana" was not retarded in the slightest. He answered in the negative to the person's question and then outlined
why it was impermissible. He imparted two pieces of knowledge.
The scholars and other people of knowledge have to be open to any and all questions, as ridiculous as they may seem, because some people have strange queries. If the scholar laughs at everyone's questions because they sound ridiculous to him, people will be reluctant to ask questions.
All of us were beginners once. We don't know what kind of background someone may have had, or why they are curious about a certain topic. When people start learning about a new subject, if other people who know more than them start laughing at them and their questions, they are the retarded ones not the questioner.
In this instance, the repeat question was stupid, not the initial question, and certainly not the maulana's answer.
