yes. they won't administer one unless you ask for one.

giving birth is honestly not that bad. i'm being serious.
ok, fine - contractions are painful. very very very painful. and if they're too painful for you to bear, then you have the option of getting an epidural.
but the rest of it goes by in a blur. labor, pushing, delivery - it's over so fast.

the real hard part is taking baby home with you and taking care of it.
