First Date

I was on my first date with this incredible guy.
I was 22 years old and just a little nervous. We went out to a movie and afterwards to a Sonic for burger, fries and a coke.

I was listening to him talk, admiring his shoulders… I leaned forward to take a sip whilst still gazing in his eyes, and I confess that I skewered myself.

The straw went right up my nose.

I gasped - and that drew some coke up the straw, into my nose. Then I gagged and pushed back from the table. The straw came out of the cup as it was still impaled in my nostril. I grabbed it and yanked it out - nose bleed.

At that point, my date stood up with a napkin and helped clean me up and settle me down.

This happened five years ago.

That guy is now my husband.

She still went on a date.
