Islam is not linear... you don't have to do X and Y to do Z. A person working in a bar may come home and pray. Is he a hypocrite? perhaps, one can debate about it. Distancing yourself from God because one fears being labeled a "hypocrite" isn't the best strategy. While doing good/obligatory deeds, the person may feel guilty for the wrong things and turn around.... beside all deeds count
