And why would it be different for women? And there are instances when it is permissible for men to dye their hair black (in war really) and henna is a beautification, what about wudu then? This is a bit perplexing...

It was something I heard in passing. Apparently I was out to lunch because I just did a quick google and came up with a Q&A which says that it
doesn't invalidate wudu.
