Default Re: Health and Fitness Thread

My step/strength teacher didn't show up last night iA I'm going to a strictly strength class on Thursday to make up for it. Did 30 minutes on the dreadmill and got soooo bored.

hefty - looks like the nike+ thing that's already available for the ipod. I have it, and I like it ok, but it figures distance based on footfall, so if your stride changes, it doesn't accurately track your distance.

heba - Was the cool elliptical like thing a precor?

Variable - I'd say that before you attempt to do heartrate training, you look at some of the old fashion methods of getting faster. When attempting to run faster, it's usually recommended to run longer and to vary your workouts. Work yourself up to running 45 minutes, and then add speedwork exercises a few days a week. With that, you should be able to run shorter distances faster. Even mile specialists don't just run a mile or 2 and then stop. They'll have some longer runs, and some speedwork.
