there's this local aunty who we used to buy clothes from a few years back.. really big fancy house, BMWs in the driveway, really well off. and back then there was talk of her son as a rishta for me (i was like 16 ), and then she sent a rishta to another distant relative of mine, and then another family friend.. it didn't work out anywhere so ultimately they went to pakistan and found a girl.. within a month the wedding and everything took place. the girl was an only child and her only family here in the states is her khala. so she moved here after the wedding and then some crazy ish went down... apparently the whole family would repeatedly physically abuse her as a group. they shredded her green card and passport, and took all her wedding jewelry she was gifted by her parents. the guy has said twice already that he'll divorce her. finally, after a really intense beating session, the guy dropped her off at her khala's house. she had some crazy bruises and cuts all over her body. i'm just glad they've reported it and are taking some action. i know other girls who decided not to prosecute when they were physically abused. and she's only 21 years old... i feel so bad for her.. sigh..

all i know is that if anybody even THOUGHT about raising their hand to me or to any of my sisters/relatives/friends, i swear to God theyd live the rest of their lives regretting it.
