If you were sincere in thinking that something was the truth and you felt compelled towards it, then don't be ashamed. The heart is compelled one way and then the other throughout one's life, especially if you are sincere, and this creates a struggle to determine what the truth is. Conviction to the truth only emerges at the end of that struggle.

It's better that you went to the other side and then came back, because now your conviction to your beliefs is not that of the indoctrinated and the blind-followers, but that of someone who has realized the truth and decided for himself what to believe.
