Yeah, he's more than 'kind of' a nativist. I don't really take issue with his ethnocentricity so much - he's proud of his heritage and whatever, more power to him. But he's not a racist as he's often accused of being.. he more just kind of wants everyone to assimilate into an "American" identity (of which English & Christianity are a big part).

I don't know that anyone's really entirely on the same page, but I do think that in terms of both foreign and domestic policy, they best represent the views of your average Muslim at this point in time. They're also not "country club" Republicans (the neocons usually are), and as such tend to be a lot more populist than your average Republican, which I think appeals to Muslims as well
