I think part of it also has to do with how financially stable the family is. If its a poor family, they really hope for a boy who can grow up and help them out of their mess - which is kinda ironic, since the father himself should look to what help he brought to his own parents when he was young, seeing as how he is still stuck in poverty.

If its a rich family, I don't think they mind so much.
