I'd have to have a look, but it's difficult to get straight stats on that kind of thing. Judging from most third party reports however, the vast majority of civilian deaths in this part of the conflict are a result of fighting amongst various local groups.

As for conspiracy theories regarding Americans being behind car bombings, I'm skeptical. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'd just need to see something more regarding it.
