Personally, I think that's exactly what's happening.
People with hopes for a better future for themselves and their children don't readily sacrifice themselves on a daily basis like that, whether they believe it's a just cause or not. Even in Palestine, people don't carry out such attacks very often. It's just very unlikely for people to ignore the occupation and attack their own people like beasts.
One shouldn't judge these actions before asking "who benefits". The US benefits more from this state of anarchy than the militias. It's a way to distract those who would otherwise be targeting American troops. Just keep them busy fighting each other so they won't concentrate their efforts on sending more American troops back home in coffins.
