Well it's better to give someone the benefit of the doubt. After if all he is your muslim brother, and he seems to be in pain, then you should be there for him.
If anybody lies and continues to tell lies all the time, cause they're "joking" LOL, then they have Allah to answer.

As for some of the other comments on here, like people saying "get over it" or words to that effective.
What happened to all the dreamers out there LOL?
Everybody is just a badass these days, they act as if its not such a big thing to lose someone you love.
Ofcourse it's a part of life that we'll lose people we love, due to circumstances or death.

Seriously when one of you falls in love really deeply you'll know how it feels like LOL.
