first of all, invasion of the body snatchers sucked

secondly, i agree that the issue of conspiracy theories is a problem among Arabs and Muslims (most of these stories originate in the Arab world).

MEMRI and very active muslim-haters aside, though, its not something that most non-muslims are aware of. Most really have no idea that infantile and/or magical thinking is common among Muslim people.

Also, conspiracy theories do tend to proliferate among many other non-muslim groups of people. It tends to happen wherever the powerful institutions in society are very authoritarian, including the media. Add an identity in which perceived victimhood plays a large part and they start to run wild. They're common in Russia, Serbia (extremely rampant among serbs), other countries in Eastern Europe, some parts of Latin America, among Israelis, and elsewhere. Even Americans enjoy them, and there are some very creative and elaborate conspiracy theories that are part of contemporary American folklore

Wa Alaykum as-Salam dear brother Mossad CONSPIRACY,

Very thoughtful post of yours. Jazakh-Allah Khairan.

I agree with your entire post. Yes, we are lucky that most non-Muslims don't know how many conspiracy theories run wild amongst Muslims.

And I also agree with you that we are not the only group that this occurs with. You know, American blacks also have a similar mentality as we Muslims. And I think a lot of it has to do because they were also persecuted and have victim-mentality like we do. For example, the things Barack Obama's priest says, can't we imagine a Muslim uncle saying similar things? And American black communities have all sorts of conspiracy theories as well...they also start rioting on the streets like we Muslims do...

So I think that Westerners living in first world countries should understand that they are a product of their upbringing and their community's privileged experiences...if Muslim countries become powerful once again and if we had the affluence and power that the Westerners have, then slowly this victim mentality would die out...

What I am trying to say is: it's not our fault! It's the Mossad's fault!
