because thats how history has judged the mughal emperor akbar. the truth is, it was all politics really. akbar really wanted to limit the political power of the ulama who had public opinion behind them thanks to thier friday khutba's. no one in political office can ignore that type of power. the last thing you want to face is an open armed rebellion by the public.
